Did You Know That Garthdee Church is a Registered Scottish Charity?
As such, we are monitored by the Scottish Charity Regulator. They place duties on us to use our resources to promote the objects of the charity. This, of course, includes promoting the needs of our Garthdee community.
By the way, OSCR is the official name for the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator. Although part of the Scottish Government, they are not under any direct ministerial control.
The Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 established OSCR. However, some relatively minor but important updates have been made snce then.
The regulator has recognised our church as a “Designated Religious Organisation”. This means the national Church of Scotland carries out some day to day duties on OSCR’s behalf.
However, OSCR does still have overall responsibility for ensuring financial transparency etc. For that reason, we send them copies of our financial returns each year. After checking it OSCR then publish the annual report on their own website for all to see.
You will be able to download our annual report on the above OSCR page. This annual report gives information on our work over the year including a financial report.
